Floreine Elaine Lange, 86, of Vandalia, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at her home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Shobonier, with the Rev. Josh Frazee officiating. Burial will be in the Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials: Holy Cross Lutheran Church Radio Ministry or donor's choice. Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Lange was born on Aug. 11, 1931, in St. Peter, the daughter of Omar and Elenora (Holman) Lotz. She married Elmer George Lange on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1947, at St. Peter Lutheran Church; he preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1981.
Floreine was a homemaker, raising her and Elmer's three children and helping on the farm. She was later known for her smile and kindness at Hardee's in Vandalia, where she was a hostess for many years. When Flo wasn't spending time with her family, you could find her in the mornings while having coffee with the breakfast crowd at Willy's Diner in Vandalia or cheering on her favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a member of Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church of Shobonier and Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies' Aide, and she volunteered at the Senior Center/Golden Circle in Vandalia.
She is survived by a son, Dennis Lange and his wife Lisa of Vandalia; daughter, Barbara and her husband Joe Darnell of Vandalia; daughter-in-law, Nancy Lange of Vandalia; brother, Carroll "Doc" Lotz of St. Peter; grandchildren, Jeremy Lange and his wife Angela, Jamie and her husband Joel Saucier, and Katie Darnell; and great-grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Jaxon, Piper and Skyler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a son, Kenneth Lange.
