Mrs. Rickman was born on Jan. 28, 1960, the daughter of Robert and Barbara (Young) Cain. She married David Rickman on June 24, 1978, at Temple Baptist Church in Vandalia.
Fran was a Mulberry Grove High School alumnus and received a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership from Greenville College. She was employed at Vandalia Schools as the junior high school librarian aide, and she also worked part-time at County Market in Vandalia. She was a member of Vandalia First Church of God and Country Echoes Music Club. Fran's driving forces in live were her faith and her family. She loved sharing her passion for books with others, especially the kids she worked with through the high school and junior high. She also enjoyed helping others, which was evident through starting the Fayette County Cancer Support Group, helping with Relay for Life over the years and her involvement in the Fayette County Cancer Fund, serving on the Board of Directors and as its treasurer.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Brad Rickman and his wife Kass of Springfield, and Tim Rickman and his wife Jessica of Bloomington; granddaughter, Clara Rickman of Bloomington; brother, Gene Cain and his wife Delores of Farmington, Mo.; sisters, Nadine Downs of Granite City, and Mary Ellen and her husband Steve of Batesville, Ark.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
