G. Kenneth Pyle, 79, of Vandalia, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Unity Baptist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Bruce Sasse officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in rural Fillmore. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, with Masonic rites at 6 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Wednesday, both at the church. Memorials: Fayette County Health Department or Unity Baptist Church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.millerfh.net.
Mr. Pyle was born on Feb. 27, 1938, in Vandalia, the son of George Frederick and Ethel L. (Ray) Pyle. He married Verna Mary Harnetiaux on June 5, 1960, in Beaver Creek.
He worked in maintenance for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources at Ramsey State Park, and was a member of Unity Baptist Church and Temperance Lodge No. 16 A.F.&A.M., both of Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Lisa Otto and Terry of Bingham; grandchildren, Nicole, Chasity and Patty, Bethany and Cody, Trever, Kayla, Cayla, Caitlin, and Heather and Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Konnor, Dezsiree, Destinee, Dawson, Chase, Oliver, Trayce, Mark and Aiden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Pyle; and a brother, Walter Pyle.
