Galen Clay Rigdon, 79, of Vandalia, passed away at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Cremation rites were accorded. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia. Memorials: Wounded Warriors Project. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Mr. Rigdon was born on Sept. 15, 1937, in Vandalia, the son of Clay and Esther (Marshall) Rigdon. He and his wife, Sherry, were married on Aug. 8, 1961, in Vandalia; she preceded him in death on July 26, 2005.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was later employed by Crane Packing in the maintenance department. He was a member of Vandalia Moose Lodge 1447, Vandalia VFW Post 3862 and Keyesport American Legion Post.
He is survived by his sons, Marty Rigdon and Scott Rigdon, both of Vandalia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
