Geraldine Doris (Largent) Hipsher, 92, of Brownstown, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015, in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Unity Baptist Church on Ill. Route 185 northwest of Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery in Hagarstown. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and one hour before services on Friday, both at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hipsher was born on Sept. 2, 1922, in Macon County, the daughter of Vern Sherwood and Esther Estella Elam Largent. She married Robert Sterling Mosley on May 17, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo.; he passed away on April 9, 1977. She married William E. "Shorty" Hipsher on Dec. 22, 1979, in Vandalia; he passed away on Dec. 6, 1999.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hurricane Baptist Church of Vandalia, and was affiliated with Unity Baptist Church of Vandalia.
She is survived by sons, Robert "Bob" Mosley of Mulberry Grove, and Roger Mosley of Brownstown; daughters, Doris and her husband Ed Young of St. Peter, Linda Dugan of Vandalia, and Donna and her husband Kevin Knebel of Vandalia; sister, Norma Pulst of Chillicothe; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a grandson, Jeremy; a great-grandson, Ryan; sons-in-law, Lyle Lotz and Bob Dugan; brothers, Darrel, Harold and Gerald Largent; sisters, Marie Hipsher and Gladys Thacker; and a brother-in-law, Russell Pulst.
