Gordon L. Reichert, 82, of Farina, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Farina, with "Preacher Bob" Dillingham officiating. Burial will be in Farina Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the Farina American Legion Post. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour before services on Thursday, both at the church. Rankin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Beyond Us Ministeries, which helps Christian college students connect, or donor's choice.
Mr. Reichert was born on Jan. 29, 1934, in Farina, the son of Darrel and Lovadna (Lovett) Reichert. He married Trudy Harris on Aug. 2, 1972, in Mt. Vernon.
Mr. Reichert considered himself a farmer, working on the farm his entire life. Industrious, he was considered an entrepreneur, involved in many different vocational opportunities. A graduate of the University of Illinois, he taught school in Findlay for 10 years and taught in Farina for half a year. He was a member of the Farina Methodist Church and served on the church board, a member of the Vandalia Country and Golf Club and former board member of that organization, and a former board member of the Effingham Equity. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Michael Reichert and his wife Sherry of Downs, Kent Keppler and his wife Tina of Farina, and Jason Reichert and his wife Jo Lee of Martinsville; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
