Grace O. Beesley, 99, of Vandalia, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, in Vandalia.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Liberty Cemetery in Mulberry Grove, with the Rev. Norris Price officiating. Friends and family may gather at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Memorials: Woburn Baptist Church in rural Greenville. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Beesley was born on Feb. 10, 1917, in Mulberry Grove Township, Bond County, the daughter of Clarence Edward and Nellie Pearl (Walker) Wright. She married Robert Adolph Beesley on May 21, 1935, in Vandalia; he passed away on July 17, 1973.
She was a homemaker and was formerly employed in the housekeeping department at Greenville Hospital. She was a member of Woburn Baptist Church in rural Greenville.
She is survived by grandsons, Terry Beesley and his wife Cassie of Vandalia, and David Smith and his wife Angie of Yale, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Matthew Smith, and Tucker and Jonah Beesley; and a great-great-granddaughter, Mykaela Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Robert E. Beesley; daughter, Delores Olson; sister, Nellie Obanion; and grandson, Doug Smith.
