Jackson Mearl "Jack" Summers, 74, of Vandalia, died on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, in the emergency room at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Unity Baptist Church on Ill. Route 185 in Vandalia, with the Rev. Larry Clonch officiating. Burial was in Pilcher Cemetery in rural Vandalia. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday, both at the church. Memorials: Vandalia Park District Swimming Pool. Mr. Summers was born on Oct. 12, 1941, in Vandalia. He was the son of James Henry Francis "Frank" and Velma Pearl (Jay) Summers Scholes. He married Carol "Jeanne" Williams on Aug. 19, 1961, in Vandalia.
Survivors include his wife; son, Jack Summers and his wife Julie of Vandalia and Omaha, Neb.; and daughter, Tammy Summers-Moreland and her husband Rusty Moreland of Ramsey.
