James D. Hediger, 77, of Highland, passed away on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at his home.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: . Online condolences may be shared at www.spengel-boulanger.com.
Mr. Hediger was born on Sunday, Aug. 29, 1937, in Carlyle, the son of Charles and Ethel Hetzel Hediger. He married Annabelle S. "Ann" Probst on Saturday, Feb. 28, 1981, in Edwardsville.
He was born and raised in Clinton County. He served with the Army, and he worked as operating engineer, helping to build Carlyle Lake; he retired in the mid-1990s. He and his wife would do annual winters in Florida. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he enjoyed gardening and outside activities. He was a hard worker, was proud of his achievements and loved his wife very much.
He is survived by his wife; son, Richard Hediger of Belleville; daughter, Alicia D. and her husband Eric Brower of Moro; stepsons, Bradley Sidwell and his wife Nikki of Brownstown, and Gregory Sidwell and his wife Debbie of Brownstown; stepdaughters, Jill Wright of Vandalia, Chantel and her husband Bill Houba of Edwardsville, and Andrea and her husband Jim Reavis of Centralia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene Hediger and his wife Jo Ann of Shattuc.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
