James E. "Jim" Lackey Jr., 94, of Vandalia, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, in Vandalia.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with the Rev. Krista Stokke officiating. Friends may gather at the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Memorials: Shriners Hospitals for Children. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Lackey was born on Dec. 19, 1922, in Villa Ridge, the son of James Earl and Helen (Gould) Lackey Sr. He married Doris Louise Harrison on Dec. 5, 1947, in Newton; she passed away on May 5, 2013.
He was a retired auto parts salesman at E. Blankenship & Co. for 44 years. He served in South Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army in World War II, and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia, Temperance Lodge No. 16 A.F. & A.M. in Vandalia, Ainad Temple Shrine of East St. Louis, Old National Trail Shrine Club, VFW Old Capitol Post 3862, Vandalia Country and Golf Club, life member of Vandalia Moose Lodge, Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95, 40&8 Voiture 1222 and .
He is survived by sons, Joe Lackey and Deborah of Washougal, Wash., and Jack Lackey of Vandalia; grandchildren, Janet, Jason, Brett and Brian; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
