Janet Lynn Lakin, 57, of Brownstown, passed away at 7:52 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at her home, surrounded by family.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Griffith Cemetery in rural Brownstown, the Rev. Terry Westerfield officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, both at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia. Memorials: Multiple System Atrophy Coalition. Mrs. Lakin was born on Jan. 12, 1961, in Vandalia, the daughter of Herb Thoman and Phyllis (Goodman) Thoman. She married Stuart Lakin on Aug. 28, 1982, in Vandalia. Together, they raised three daughters.
Janet retired from First National Bank in Vandalia after 30 years as a bookkeeper. She was an avid bowler, known to bowl several nights a week at the Vandalia Bowling Alley.
She is survived by her father; mother; husband; daughters, Tara and her husband Brian Tritt of Brownstown, Laura Lakin of Jewett and Ashley Lakin of Brownstown; granddaughter, Kimberlyn Tritt of Brownstown; sister, Bev and her husband Kenny Lewey of Vandalia; and brother, Ken Thoman of Vandalia.
