Joe R. Nave, 92, of Vandalia, formerly of Ramsey, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Ramsey, with the Rev. Jeff Shouse officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Ramsey Cemetery in Ramsey. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, both at the church. Memorials: First Baptist Church in Ramsey. Mr. Nave was born on March 21, 1924, in Bayle City, the son of Francis Ray and Thelma (Brown) Nave. He married Vivian Ulbright on Oct. 19, 1947, in Ramsey.
He was a retired teller at First National Bank in Ramsey, and a member of First Baptist Church in Ramsey and Anderson-Scroggins American Legion Post 460, both of Ramsey. He was a World War II veteran. Joe was well-known for his beautiful hand-crafted wooden toys.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Judy and her husband David Roberts of Vandalia, and Sharon and her husband Rick Stanbery of Vandalia; brother, Lee Nave and his wife Carol of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters, May Belle Jenkins of St. Charles, Mo., Arlene and her husband Wendell Hoffman of Reeds Springs, Mo., and Nancy and her husband Mike Paradee of Ramsey; grandchildren, Matt, Darren, Brooke and Marisha; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Eugene Nave.
