John A. Linz Jr., 56, of Vandalia, died on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

Cremation will be accorded, and services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. James Ecklund officiating. Mr. Linz was born on Feb. 26, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of John A. Sr. and Virginia L. Platek Linz. He married Patricia Bogart in Germantown, Wis. He later married Becky Montroy in Princeton.
He was born and raised in Milwaukee, graduating from Messmer High School in 1975 and the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He was an avid golfer and was a former member of the Family YMCA Board of Directors in Vandalia. The family would like to thank the members of First Baptist Church and his friends in Vandalia for their care and support.
He is survived by his children, Anastasia Linz of Busan, South Korea, Anthony Linz of Tacoma, Wash., Chance Linz and Casey Warner of Galesburg, and Zachary Linz and Adriana Linz, both of Monmouth; brother, David Linz and Charity Gannon of Green Bay, Wis.; sister, Cynthia and her husband John Maniaci of Muskego, Wis.; several nieces and nephews; and the mothers of his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
