Johnny "Keith" Hunter, 71, of Vandalia, passed away at 11 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at his home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Columbus Baptist Church in Keyesport, with the Rev. Bruce Sasse officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery in rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church. Memorials: The family or Columbus Baptist Church. Hohlt and File Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hunter was born on Feb. 17, 1946, the son of Faye (Hunter) Jackson and Charles Jackson. He married Beatrice Jane Hans on March 11, 1965. Together they had a wonderful life of 53 years; their love produced four children.
Keith was formerly employed by Brockway Plastics in Vandalia as a forklift operator, and was a member of Columbus Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Brian (Amber) Hunter and Shaun (Casey) Hunter, both of Vandalia; a daughter, Kristy Rigdon of Vandalia; grandchildren, Kimberly (Trevor Pyle) Hunter, Jordan Hunter, Kourtney Hunter, Kaitlyn Hunter, Coty (Lupe Vences) Hunter, Conner Hunter, Zane McCombs, Paetyn Hunter, Danika Hunter and Brian Keith Hunter; sisters, Ina Aldridge and Judy (Dale) Hans; brothers, Gary Dean (Barb) Jackson, Jerry Jackson and Terry Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved son, Donnie Keith Hunter; brother, Danny Jackson; sister, Linda Jackson; niece, Tiffany Hans; and nephew, Dennis Hans.
