Julia M. Magnus, 80, of Brownstown, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at her home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown. Burial will be in Griffith Cemetery in rural Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Four Mile Christian Church Education Fund. Online condolences may be expressed at www.giesekingfh.com.
Mrs. Magnus was born on Sunday, Dec. 1, 1935, in Otego Township, rural Brownstown, the daughter of Harland and Anna Marie (Kistler) Purcell. She married Willard W. Magnus on April 2, 1961; he passed away on May 11, 2004.
She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Four Mile Christian Church in rural Brownstown, where she played the piano for 63 years and had served as a Sunday school teacher. She was an election judge for Otego Township for many years.
She is survived by sons, Delbert Magnus and his wife Mary of St. Elmo, Phillip Magnus of Brownstown and DeWayne Magnus of Brownstown; daughter, LeAnna and her husband Steve White of Hendersonville, Tenn.; sister, Ina Rothe of Murphysboro; and grandchildren, William and Hannah Magnus, and Matthew, Andrew and Anna White.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother-in-law, Carl Rothe.
