Karen R. Cothern, 69, of Vandalia, formerly of Ramsey, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
In keeping with Mrs. Cothern's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation rites will be accorded. Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Legion Auxiliary in Vandalia. Online condolences may be expressed at www.millerfh.net.
Mrs. Cothern was born on Nov. 5, 1946, in Herrick, the daughter of Kenneth E. and Ina Mae (Sarver) Blackerby. She married Gary R. Cothern on Nov. 16, 1963, in Ramsey; he passed away on Nov. 10, 2015.
She was formerly employed at Mallory's in Pana, and was a member of Church of Christ in Herrick and American Legion Auxiliary in Vandalia.
She is survived by a son, Brent Cothern and his wife Milene of Vandalia; sister, Patty Blackerby of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Megan and her husband Tyler Westendorf of Vandalia, and Haley Cothern and her fiancé Dathan Berning of Vandalia; and a great-grandson, Hunter Westendorf.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Dennis Blackerby.
