Kay Cearlock Kistler, 73, of Vandalia, passed away at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at her home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Temple Baptist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Harry Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday and one hour before services on Saturday, both at the church. Memorials: Shriners' Hospitals for Children. Mrs. Kistler was born on Sept. 30, 1941, in Vandalia, the daughter of John Franklin and Opal Irene Elder Cearlock. She married Wayne Kistler on Jan. 25, 1964, in Vandalia; he preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1988.
Kay worked at Crane Packing in Vandalia before retiring. She was a member of Liberty Church in Bingham, Fayette County Relay for Life, Vandalia Women of the Moose #1447, Vandalia VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary #3901, American Legion Auxiliary, Fillmore Sportsmen's Club and International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers.
Kay loved cooking, camping and the outdoors, and was a garage sale'n fool. She was well-known in the community and never met a stranger.
She is survived by sons, Randy Kistler and his wife Carol of Olney, Nick Kistler of Greenville, Rick Kistler and his wife Traci of Norman, Okla., and Paul Kistler of St. Elmo; daughters, Candy and her husband Dale Konrad of Vandalia, Jan and her husband Mark Merriman of Fillmore, and Heather and her husband Tony Wollin of Vandalia; brother, Bob Cearlock and his wife Nelda of Vandalia; sisters, Joan and her husband Bud Siebert of Vandalia; and Judy and her husband Ron Dothager of East Peoria; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Dean, Gene and Dewayne Cearlock; and sister, Doris Cearlock.
