Kenneth E. Taylor, 82, of Janesville, Wis., formerly of Vandalia, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville. Burial was in Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville. Memorials: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or any veterans' organization of the donor's choice. Schneider Apfel Schneider and Schneider Funeral Home in Janesville was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Taylor was born on Aug. 27, 1931, in Vandalia, the son of Arthur and Irene Ward Taylor. He married JoAnn Elwood in Peoria on Aug. 14, 1955; she passed away on March 9, 2010.
He graduated from Vandalia High School, and from Eastern Illinois University in 1957 with a degree in accounting. He served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 9, 1950-Aug. 6, 1954, and was stationed in Pensacola, Fla. He worked as an accountant for Wayne Feeds and later as a purchasing agent for Freedom Plastics. He was a lifetime member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 in Vandalia, and a long-term member of the Vandalia Moose Lodge. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed playing golf and euchre, and was an occasional casino visitor.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan and her husband James Pendleton of Madison, Wis.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; children, Scott, Stephen and Stacey; sister, Elsie Freeman Park; and brothers, Don Blair, Arthur Taylor Jr. and Robert Taylor.
