Kenneth Leon Braun, 87, of Vandalia, passed away at 7:04 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Friendship Manor in St. Elmo.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Overcup Baptist Church in rural Vandalia, with the Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery in Hagarstown, with military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia and one hour before services on Tuesday at the church. Mr. Braun was born on Aug. 10, 1926, in Bear Grove Township, Fayette County, the son of John and Katy Hoyle Braun. He married Helen "Arlene" Pryor on July 3, 1948, in St. Elmo; she died on Sept. 9, 2010.
He was a farmer, and he served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1447, Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 and VFW Post 3862, all of Vandalia.
He is survived by sons, Steve Braun and his wife Nancy of Vandalia, and Randy Braun and his wife Terri of Vandalia; daughter, Christy and her husband Bob Warner of Vandalia; brother, Donald Braun of Morton; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brothers, Maurice and John Braun.
