Kenny Elmer Lange, 65, of Vandalia, passed away at 1:09 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at his home.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Jerry Bagwell officiating. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and one hour before services on Tuesday, both at the Church. Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Lange was born on Aug. 17, 1949, the son of Elmer George and Floreine Elaine Lotz Lange. He married Nancy Lee Skelton on Dec. 18, 1971, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Augsburg.
He was the owner/operator of The New Hub Clothing Store before working for the Illinois Department of Transportation in Effingham, from which he retired. He was a very active member and trustee of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, a member of the Effingham Credit Union Board and a member of the Vandalia Senior Citizens Center Board. Kenny loved sports of all kinds, especially the St. Louis Rams and St. Louis Cardinals. He played on many champion softball teams in the Fayette County area over the years. He enjoyed working in his yard and spending time on the lake, but most of all, he was a wonderful and loving grandpa.
He is survived by his mother, of Vandalia; wife; son, Jeremy Lange and his wife Angela of Glen Carbon; brother, Denny Lange and his wife Lisa of Augsburg; sister, Barbara and her husband Joe Darnell of Vandalia; grandchildren, Emily, Sarah and Jaxon Lange; and nieces, Jamie and Katie.
He was preceded in death by his father.
