Mrs. Hollmann was born on March 23, 1926, in Effingham County, the daughter of Arthur and Bertha Berg Mercier. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Erwin Hollmann on Oct. 19, 1947, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. F.J. Duecker officiating; he preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2012. The Lord blessed them with the gift of three sons and a daughter, and 64 years of marriage together.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she volunteered as a Braille worker and made quilts for mission work. She worked as a live-in housekeeper for Dr. and Mrs. Miller Greer in Vandalia before marriage, and continued as a housekeeper and caretaker for Mrs. Greer while raising her own four children. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers and chickens, and she was well-known for baking delicious pastries, but most importantly, she loved and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Grandma La-La."
She is survived by her sons, David Hollman and his wife Dolli of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Ron Hollman and his wife Sara of Vandalia, and Jim Hollman and his wife Kay of Quincy; daughter, Vickie Sloan of Humboldt; grandchildren, the Rev. Josh Hollman and his wife Amie of Jackson Heights, N.Y., Adam Hollman and his wife Nicole of Berkley, Mich., Craig Hollman of Quincy, Kelly and her husband R.J. Plas of Lincoln, Neb., and Justin Sloan of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Elijah Hollman of Jackson Heights, N.Y., James and Avery Hollman of Berkley, Mich., and Samantha Emily and Andrew Plas of Lincoln, Neb.; brother-in-law, Bill Stine; sister-in-law, Doris Mercier; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Harry Mercier; sister, Helen Stine; brother-in-law, Walter Reiss; and sister-in-law, Irma Reiss.
