Lavern D. Elam, 53, of Mulberry Grove, formerly of Vandalia, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Mulberry Grove. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: Helia Healthcare in Greenville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Mr. Elam was born on Sept. 27, 1962, in Vandalia, the son of Lowell Dean and Una Marie (Bingaman) Elam.
Lavern worked at Brockway Plastics for 20 years. He loved to hunt and farm with the family.
He is survived his father; brothers, Dewayne Elam and his wife Deborah Jo of Vandalia, and Verlin Elam of Vandalia; sister, Kathy Elam of Vandalia; companion, Ruthann Elam of Greenville; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
