Lavon Lucille Myers, 93, of Greensboro, N.C., formerly of the Vandalia area, was peacefully taken home to be with her Lord on Friday, the 27th of September, 2013.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: Calvary Southern Baptist Church, 1833 S. Country Club Road, Decatur, Ill. Mrs. Myers was born on Jan. 31, 1920, the daughter of Lawrence and Ina Blankenship Reising. She married Cecil J. Myers on Feb. 23, 1940, and they lived most of their 66 years together in the Pana and Decatur areas.
She graduated from Centralia Business College and worked at Webster's Heating, Plumbing and Electric Co. She was a homemaker and a partner with her husband in farming, and she also worked in banking for 20 years.
She loved having people over for Sunday dinner and entertaining friends. She had a natural green thumb when it came to flower beds and gardening. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Decatur and attended Rankin Baptist Church while living in Greensboro, N.C.
She is survived by her children, Connie and her husband Loy Newby of Greensboro, N.C., Brenda and her husband Rolland Shippy of Canyon, Texas, and Jim Myers and his wife Connie of Fuquay, N.C.; grandchildren, Dann Newfont and his wife Kathy of Barnardsville, N.C., Darek Newby and his wife Patty of Arlington, Va., Christie Shippy of Canyon, Texas, Leslie and her husband Chad Schroder of Oklahoma City, Okla., Alicia and her husband Mat Bradley of Canyon, Texas, Stacy and her husband Jamie Robinson of Apex, N.C., and Jason Myers and his wife Crystal of St. Louis, Mo.; great-grandkids, Sam and Ben Newby, Destin and Mariah Newfont, Anthony and Ashley Ramos, Aaron, Seth and Audrey Hughes, Kagan and Kash Bradley, A.J. and Matthew Robinson, Elijah, Emily and Lela Myers, and Cade and Abby Schroeder; sister, Bettye Kelley; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and a sister, Beulah Grigg.
