Obituary

The Rev. Lawrence E. Becker, 90, of Hillsboro, formerly of Coffeen and Vandalia, died on Monday, April 6, 2014, in Hillsboro.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Terry Westerfield officiating. Burial will be in GreenHill Cemetery in VanBurensburg, with military rites accorded by Patoka American Legion Post 543. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday and one hour before services on Saturday, both at the church. Memorials: First United Methodist Church of Vandalia. Rev. Becker was born on Nov. 13, 1924, in Fillmore, the son of Edward F. and Claudia H. Kunz Becker. He married Ila Aileen Brackenbush on May 14, 1947; she died on March 6, 1967. He married Virginia A. McNeil Parr on June 9, 1968; she died on April 16, 2011.
Survivors include a son, Eric Parr and his wife Marcia of Coffeen; and daughters, Lynette and her husband Jerry Ward of Vandalia, Cheryl and her husband Denny Cain of Patoka, Diana and her husband Paul Walker of South Bend, Ind., Karen and her husband Keith Breithaupt of Swansea, Beth and her husband Eugene Dust of Plymouth, Minn., and Teresa and her husband Steve Burnett of Weldon Spring, Mo.
