Lee Poe, 88, of Vandalia, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016, in Vandalia.
Services will be Masonic rites, held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Unity Baptist Church in Vandalia. Online condolences may be expressed at www.millerfh.net.
Mr. Poe was born on Nov. 21, 1927, in Gideon, Mo., the son of Leander and Hazel Irene (Ellis) Poe. Lee was raised by his stepfather, Walter and Hazel Bailey. He married Kathleen Williams on July 30, 1966, in Perkins, Mo.
He was a retired over-the-road truck driver and former school bus driver for Vandalia Community Schools. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of Unity Baptist Church and Temperance Lodge No. 16 A.F. & A.M., both of Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Angela Poe-Forni of Spring Hill, Fla.; sister, Ruby Tisher of Farmington, Mo.; nephews, Ronald and Ralph Tisher; niece, Pamela Brownfield; and several local friends and caregivers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather and a granddaughter.
