Louis Carl Kuttruff Jr., 73, died on July 23, 2017, in Baton Rouge, La.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Jenna Tedrick Kuttruff, a 1963 graduate of Vandalia High School. He is also survived by his father, three sisters and two brothers of Louisiana and Texas; brother-in-law, Phillip Tedrick of Readfield, Maine; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Sharon Tedrick Jorandby of rural Brownstown; and nieces and nephews.
Carl was a 1962 graduate of Baton Rouge High School and a 1965 graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.A. in Geography and Anthropology. He attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and received his M.A. in Anthropology in 1970 and his Ph.D. in Anthropology in 1974. He worked in the field as an archaeologist for more than 51 years in 15 different states in the United States as well as Oaxaca Mexico, Phillipine Islands, Wake Island, Kwajalein Atoll and Marshall Islands.
He was cremated, and family and friends held a celebration of his life in Baton Rouge on Aug. 5.
