The Rev. Louis S. "Louie" Thiele, 86, of Vandalia, passed away on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Ramsey, with the Rev. Don Price officiating. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery in Ramsey. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials: Donor's choice. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Rev. Thiele was born on Feb. 13, 1931, in Sault Sainte Marie, Mich., the son of Joel Baker and Doris Marion (Seiler) Thiele. He married Betty J. Hoffman on April 1, 1951, in Ramsey.
He was a retired Baptist minister and member of East Fork Baptist Church in Coffeen. He pastored churches in the following Illinois towns: Antioch, Bingham, Coffeen, East St. Louis, Granite City, Herrick, Mulberry Grove, Nokomis, Olney, rural Greenville, rural Pana and Vandalia; and at churches in Wray, Colo., and Poole, Ky. He was also director of missions in Mt. Vernon, Ill.
He is survived by his wife; son, Johnny Thiele of Vandalia; daughter, Jeannie Fesser and her husband Darrell of Butler; sister, Joan Winick of Decatur; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jaclyn Lindsey and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brenley and Griffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
