Lucile M. Smith, 96, of Sherman, formerly of Vandalia, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013, at Sherman.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials: Senior Citizens Center in Vandalia. Online condolences may be shared at www.millerfh.net.
Mrs. Smith was born on Oct. 3, 1916, in Vera, the daughter of Dorah H. and Velma Clotella Patterson Pummill. She married Eldon M. "Curly" Smith on Aug. 3, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo.; he died on Dec. 21, 2002.
She was a retired teller for Farmers and Merchants Bank, a member of First Baptist Church, charter member of Daughters of the American Revolution, lifetime charter member of the Fayette County Genealogical Society, member of Fayette County Home Extension Board, and 60-year former member and vice president of Senior Citizens Center of Vandalia.
She is survived by a son, Jon K. Smith of Sherman; twin daughters, Pam and her husband David Sapp of Livermore, Colo., and Pat and her husband Louis Frost of Gainesville, Fla.; sister, Iris J. Hipsher of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Aaron, Richie, Laura and Megan; and great-grandchildren, Alex and Madison.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Everette Pummill; sisters, Icel Adorably and Louella Hardin; and daughter-in-law, Mary Kay Smith.
