Margaret F. Newton, 100, Vandalia
Margaret F. Newton, 100, of Vandalia, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Friends and family may gather at the cemetery at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Mrs. Newton was born on Jan. 15, 1913, in Washington, Ind., the daughter of William Carl and Carrie Wagner Raymann. She married Harold G. Newton on June 24, 1939, in Washington, Ind.; he passed away on Feb. 11, 1984.
She was a retired hostess at Robbins Restaurant in Vandalia, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Cameo Club and Woman's Club, all of Vandalia.
She is survived by a son, Don Newton of Vandalia; daughter, Diane Rebbe and fiancé John Bauer of Bingham; grandchildren, Marsha, Jason, Trisha, and Joel and his wife Donna; and great-grandchildren, Nicole, Jacob, Quentin, Alec, Derek, Chase and Jaren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Gary Newton, in August 1988; and a son-in-law, Chris Rebbe.
