Margaret Theolene Wolf, 77, of Vandalia, passed away at 8:47 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Brookstone Estates in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Shobonier, with the Rev. David Hoehler officiating. Per Margaret's wishes, her body will be cremated and scattered by the family at a later date. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia and one hour before services on Thursday at the church. Mrs. Wolf was born on June 7, 1937, in Eureka, S.D., the daughter of Theodore and Margaret Grace Axness Straub. She married Dr. Jerome Wolf on Aug. 14, 1960, in Eureka, S.D.; he passed away on Nov. 3, 2007.
She was a teacher, and over the years taught grade school and special education, and served as a substitute teacher for grades K-12. She enjoyed gardening, birds and all things dealing in nature, especially rock formations and volcanoes. She loved babysitting grandkids and playing bridge with her friends.
She is survived by sons, Michael Wolf of Chicago, and David Wolf and his wife Marcy of Wildwood, Mo.; daughters, Diane and her husband Kenny Torbeck of Vandalia, Kathy and her husband Larry VonBehren of St. Peter, and Charlotte and David Pugh of O'Fallon, Mo.; sisters, Charlotte Roe of Silverdale, Wash., Kathryn Knops of LaGrange, and Marie McMahon of Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren, Kristyn and her husband Brian Rosenkoetter, Kayla and her husband Jake Etcheson, Jacob Torbeck and his wife Jackie, Dane Torbeck and his wife Renee, Nikolas Torbeck, Jonathon Torbeck, Benjamin Wolf and Alexandria Pugh.; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee Rosenkoetter and Edmund Torbeck.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
