Marjorie A. Johnson, 91, of Vandalia, passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at her home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Barry Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Mrs. Johnson was born on Nov. 7, 1923, in Pana, the daughter of George and Mildred Ayers Sakach. She married Walter G. Johnson on June 29, 1941, in Vandalia.
She was a nurse's aide at Fayette County Hospital and worked at Johnson, Stephens and Shinkle Shoe Factory. She was a member of Mother of Dolors Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and Crawford-Hale American Legion Unit 95 Auxiliary. She was a faithful sponsor of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, and to St. Joseph's Indian School.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Patricia Wefer of McDowell, VA.; son, Robert "Mike" Johnson of Vandalia; and daughter, Terry and her husband Randy Thomas of San Diego, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Walter Johnson Jr.; and sisters, Esther, Alvina, Georgia and infant sister Janet.
