Marjorie Thoman, 94, of Vandalia, passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Unity Baptist Church in Vandalia (formerly First Baptist Church, at Sixth and Johnson streets), with the Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Evans Public Library or Unity Baptist Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Mrs. Thoman was born on Jan. 11, 1921, in Shobonier, the daughter of Byron and Alice Lester Albert. She married Floyd Thoman on March 25, 1938, in St. Charles, Mo.; he passed away on July 30, 1990.
She was a member of Unity Baptist Church, formerly First Baptist Church; and was a homemaker, raising her three daughters while her husband farmed.
She is survived by daughters, Mary and her husband John Leidner of Vandalia, Carol and her husband Tim Moore of Moweaqua, and Jody and her husband John Burnam of Vandalia; grandchildren, David Leidner and his wife Whitney, Michelle and her husband Todd Schaefer, Matthew Moore and his wife Meagan, Andrew Moore and his wife Layne, Mark Burnam and his wife Lisa, and Jeff Burnam and his wife Amanda; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two great-grandchildren.
