Marvin A. Suckow, 85, of rural Mason, died at 5:02 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his home.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Altamont, with the Rev. Michael Kloepping officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery, with military rites accorded by Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post 7676 of Altamont. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday at Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont and one hour before services on Sunday at the church. Memorials: Zion Lutheran Church or VFW Post 7676. Mr. Suckow was born on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1928, in Mason Township, rural Effingham County, the son of William and Gertrude Siebert Suckow. He married Myrna Marie Wohltman on Nov. 26, 1961.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Marlin Suckow and his wife Donna, Mark Suckow, and Michael Suckow and his wife Nichole, all of Altamont; and daughter, Marie and her husband Larry Malone of Chrisman.
