Mary L. Reed, 74, Vandalia
Mary Lillian Reed, 74, of Vandalia, died at 3:39 a.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with the Rev. William Emrick officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Mrs. Reed was born on Feb. 25, 1939, in Sandoval, the daughter of Robert J. and Mabel R. Watkins Hathaway. She married Howard Reed on Nov. 3, 1962, at First Baptist Church in Vandalia. He died on Aug. 21, 2004.
She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter.
She is survived by daughters, Penny Reed of Vandalia, and Sandy Cothran of Desloge, Mo.; sisters, Ruth and her husband David Dugan of Mulberry Grove, and Evelyn Talbot of Vandalia; brother, Wayne Hathaway and his wife Betty of Vandalia; grandchildren, Nick Jupin, Jennifer Bleckler and Ashley Smith; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sheila Reed; brothers, Maurice Hathaway and Eugene Hathaway; and an infant sister.
