Mildred I. Hunter, 97, of St. Elmo, formerly of Brownstown, died at 6:26 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Friendship Manor in St. Elmo.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown, with the Rev. John Heicher officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo. Mrs. Hunter was born on Thursday, April 27, 1916, in Otego Township, rural Brownstown, the daughter of William H. and Alma Campbell Reed. She married John R. Hunter on May 17, 1950; he died on March 20, 1997.
She had been a homemaker, and with her husband had operated an upholstery business. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Avena.
She is survived by cousins, Karen Denning, Mary Wasser and Helen Henrichsmeyer; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother in infancy.
