Obituary

Mildred M. Schmid, 102, of Shobonier, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, in Shobonier.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Farmers Cemetery in rural Shobonier. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: Donors' choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.millerfh.net.
Mrs. Schmid was born on Aug. 26, 1913, in Shobonier, the daughter of William Francis and Mary Sophia (Anderson) Albert. She married Edward Albert Schmid on July 1, 1934; he passed away on Sept. 11, 1995.
She was a homemaker and member of the Methodist Church in Shobonier, and she loved her family, flower gardening and quilting.
She is survived by her sons, David Schmid and his wife Sandy of Ephrata, Pa., Mike Schmid of Decatur and Ed Schmid of Shobonier; daughters, Carol and her husband Vern Endsley of Taylorville, Judy Welch of St. Louis, Mo., and Mary and her husband Jim Schulze of St. Elmo; sister, Hazel Stevenson of Vandalia; sister-in-law, June Schmid of Decatur; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Bill Schmid; brother, "Button; sisters, Mabel and Estella "Sis"; and great-grandchildren, Amanda and Gerald Lee.
