Nina Ruth Geddes, 83, of Effingham, a former long-time resident of Vadnalia, passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, in Effingham.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Revs. J.C. Neff and Rhonda Nash officiating. Burial will be in Forbis Cemetery in rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: New Beginnings Church-Youth Group Department. Mrs. Geddes was born on March 16, 1931, in Vandalia, the daughter of Clyde Earl and Katie Cleo Phelps Crothers. She married Roy Elmer Geddes on Sept. 11, 1948, in Decatur; he passed away on Jan. 14, 2003.
She was a retired waitress, and former employee of Johnson, Stephens & Shinkle Shoe Co. and P.N. Hirsch Warehouse, all of Vandalia, and was affiliated with New Beginnings Church in Effingham.
She is survived by daughters, Kathy Heitkamp-Bailey and her husband Randall of Effingham, Barbara and her husband Tom Kralman of Teutopolis, Janet and her husband Dale Reeves of Vandalia, and Brenda Konigsbauer of Effingham; sister, Doris Cable of Vandalia; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and five sisters.
