Norma "Jean" Freeman, 85, of Vandalia, passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, in Vandalia.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Terry Westerfield officiating. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, and one hour before services on Monday at the church. Mrs. Freeman was born on Dec. 9, 1928, in Danville, the daughter of Chester C. Chamberlin and Mary B. (Leveque) Wooters. She married Dale R. Freeman on June 20, 1948, in Urbana; he died on June 4, 2014.
She was a homemaker, a member of First United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Sweet Adelines International.
She is survived by her daughters, Jody Little of Winter Garden, Fla., and Debby and her husband Michael Themig of Vandalia; grandchildren, Matthew Little and his wife Jessica of Granite City, John Themig and his wife Katie of Dallas, Texas, Karen and her husband Matthew Black of Vandalia, and Kim and her husband Bryan Cearlock of Vandalia; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hunter, Brady, Blake, Ella, Chase, Ava, Marley, Teagan, Lane and Hudson; sister, Rosemary Summers of Palatine; and special nephews and nieces, Joshua, Heather, Kevin and Dawn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
