Norma V. Willms, 89, of Vandalia, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Liberty Christian Church in Brownstown, with the Revs. Joe Lawson and Don Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Willms was born on Aug. 14, 1923, in Sefton Township, Fayette County, the daughter of William and Kleeora Payne Jones. She married Gerald E. Willms on Oct. 23, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo.; he passed away in May 2004.
She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in rural Brownstown and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by sons, Paul Willms and his wife Susan of Shobonier, Joe Willms and his wife Aileen of Vandalia, and John Willms and his wife Kathy of Brownstown; half sister, Marcia Luster of Vandalia; stepsisters, Phyllis Bruno and Carol Calhoun, both of Vandalia; stepbrother, Ted Forbis of Dewey, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Shirley Jones of Vandalia; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Zelma Williams; husband; son, Melvin Willms; and brother, Melvin Jones.
