Patricia Ann (Royer) Ireland, 81, was delivered to her Lord on May 7, 2018, due to complication of cancer. A 30-year resident of Bullhead City, Pat passed away at her home in Green Valley, Ariz., with her husband, Rich, at her side.
Memorial services and internment will be at Community Lutheran Church, Bullhead City, Ariz., with a celebration of life at Chaparral Country Club, Bullhead City, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Community Lutheran Church, 2275 Ricca Road, Bullhead City, Ariz., 86442
Mrs. Ireland was born on April 10, 1937 to Leo Royer and Ruth Purcell Royer in Vandalia. After graduation in 1955 from Vandalia High School, she received her degree in Education from Southern Illinois University in 1959. She began her long teaching career in Danville, where she met her husband, Richard Ireland. They were married on June 17, 1961, at St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia.
The Irelands moved to Southern California in 1964 to teach, where their son, Jay, was born in 1966. After a brief return to Illinois, the Irelands moved to Bullhead City, Ariz., in 1969. Rich was a member of original faculty of the new Mohave High School, where Pat also taught home economics for 15 years. Pat briefly gave up her teaching career in 1980 to open her Merle Norman Cosmetics shop in Bullhead City. She was so proud of her shop and so much enjoyed her many customers and friends.
Pat was an active member and golfer at Chaparral Country Club and life member of Beta Sigma Phi service and social sorority. She was a founding member of Xi Gamma Epsilon chapter in Bullhead City, along with her mother, Gladys Royer, and sister, Cheri (Royer) Nestrick. She was a founding member of Community Lutheran Church in Bullhead City, Ariz.
Pat's pride and joy was her son, Jay, a Mohave High graduate and a University of Arizona graduate in architecture. She was also happy when Jay married Nancy in 1992, but Pat's greatest joy was her granddaughters, Emily and Molly.
After retiring in 1993, Pat and Rich moved to Green Valley, Ariz. In 2007, to be closer to Emily and Molly, Pat and Rich moved to Denver, Colo.
The Ireland moved back to Green Valley in 2014 so they could again enjoy the Arizona desert that Pat loved so much. In her retirement years, Pat enjoyed sewing, talking to granddaughters, crocheting, being with her granddaughters, reading, visiting her granddaughters, shopping, seeing her granddaughters and spending time with family, including her granddaughters.
Pat is survived by husband, Richard Ireland; son, Jay (Nancy) Ireland, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; granddaughters, Emily and Molly Ireland, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; sister, Cheri (Kevin) Nestrick, Bullhead City, Ariz.; niece, Dana Nestrick, Chicago; and lifelong friends, Sandie and Darrell Wicklein, Las Vegas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Ruth Royer; stepmother, Gladys Royer; and brother, Alan Royer.
The Lord blessed all His children with her presence and with her love and kindness. She now rests in the arms of her Savior and will always be loved by all.
