Patricia Ann Thompson, 72, of Vandalia, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. PeeWee Denton officiating. Burial will be in Tipsword Cemetery in rural Beecher City. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: The family. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Patricia was born on Aug. 29, 1944, in Decatur, the daughter of Sereno W. and Leona "Violet" (Rentfro) Tipsword.
She was a trimmer for John Crane Inc.
She is survived by daughters, Gena Lynn and her husband John Reece of Bloomington, Sandra Hall of Vandalia, Becky Bannister of Newton, Ruth "Marie" and her husband Raymond Sapp of Shobonier, and Glenda Sue and her husband Gerald Dean Frailey of Brownstown; sons, Bradley Thompson of Vandalia, and James Thompson of Vandalia; sisters, Lavesta Rickfelder, Frances Gillespie, Bessie Potter, Leona May McMillan, Elner Russell and Linda Canada; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth Thompson; brothers, Sam Tipsword and Jerry Tipsword; and a sister, Diane Gordon.
