Pauline E. Springman, 95, of Brownstown, passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Elmo, with the Rev. Zachary Edgar officiating. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in rural St. Elmo. Visitation will be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown. Memorials: St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Mrs. Springman was born on Saturday, Jan. 31, 1920, in rural Brownstown, the daughter of Leonard and Effie Neeley Storm. She married George Springman on Nov. 28, 1938, in St. Charles, Mo.; he preceded her in death in 1994.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Council of Catholic Women at St. Mary's. In addition to raising her family, she assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm.
She is survived by sons, Anthony Springman and his wife Patricia of Bucyrus, Ohio, and William Springman and his wife Betty of Brownstown; daughters, Eleanor and her husband Eldon Hammond of Pana, and Paula and her husband Gary Anderson of Pasco, Wash.; 29 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, a sister, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
