Peggy Joan Cowger, 73, passed away at 1:44 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at St. John's Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood, with Rob Dillingham officiating. Burial will be in Keen's Chapel Cemetery in LaClede. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Cowger was born on Sept. 8, 1942, in Fayette County, the daughter of Virgil and Irene (Nelson) Case. She married James Edward Cowger Sr. on Sept. 25, 1965, at the Nazarene Church in Edgewood; he preceded her in death.
Peggy enjoyed reading, singing, playing the piano and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, James Cowger Jr. and his wife Kambi of Farina, and John Cowger and his wife Mildred of Farina; brothers, Clayton Case and his wife Carol of Farina, and Virgil Case Jr. and his wife Joyce of Sandoval; sisters, Sharon and her husband Jim Scaggs of Effingham, Cheryl Winchester of Farina, and Connie and her husband Larry Klasen of Edgewood; son-in-law, Steve Landreth of Edgewood; sister-in-law, Diane Case of Rancho Palo Verdes, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Brenda Landreth; brother, Jerry Case; and sister, Patricia Case.
