Richard J. "Dick" Farrell, 90, of Edwardsville, passed away at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville, with the Rev. Dr. John Hembruch officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Memorials: First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville. Mr. Farrell was born on Jan. 29, 1927, in Humbolt, the son of Chester and Mary (Hill) Farrell. He married Anna "Ann" Bratten on Jan. 26, 1951; she preceded him in death on March 28, 2015.
He worked as a highway construction supervisor for 36 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Edwardsville, American Legion Post 199, Ainad Temple Shrine, Edwardsville Masonic Lodge and Caledonia Masonic Lodge in Anna.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth "Ken" Farrell and his wife Ruth of Maryland Heights, Mo.; grandsons, Michael Farrell and his wife Gina of Ballwin, Mo., and Edward Farrell of Maryland Heights, Mo.; and a great-grandson, Vincenzo Farrell.
