Rita Rose Hubbartt, 74, of Shelbyville, died at 3:21 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at her residence.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, with the Rev. Don Jefferies officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour before services on Wednesday, both at the funeral home. Memorials: Mid-America Preparatory School or First Assembly of God Church youth. Mrs. Hubbartt was born on March 6, 1938, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Oran "Bud" and Louise Tynan Miller. She married Jack Allen on June 7, 1958; he died on Aug. 10. 1984. She married Bob Hubbartt on Dec. 26, 1987.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School with the Class of 1956. Rita had a vibrant personality and never knew a stranger. She once said that the most important job in her life was being a wife and mother. Her success shined through her five sons. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Shelbyville, was active in the Pencil Pals Program of CEFS and organized events for the Shelbyville High School Class of 1956. She was also a volunteer secretary for Mid-America Preparatory School in Herrick.
He is survived by her husband; sons, Michael Allen, Mark Allen and Bradley Allen, all of Antioch, Tenn., Brian Allen and his wife Shannon of Shelbyville, and Rick Allen and his wife Jennifer of Shelbyville; stepchildren, Bill Hubbartt and his wife Laurie, Robin and her husband Mike Bear, and Debbie and her husband Mike Carr, all of Findlay; brother, Roger Miller and his wife Cathy of Shelbyville; sisters, Janean Stretch of Hillsboro, Veda and her husband Kenneth Woods of Shelbyville, and Judy and her husband Ron Pollard of Shelbyville;. 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; grandson, Zachary Hubbartt; brother-in-law, Dale Stretch; and nephew Rodney Stephens.
