Rosalie L. Cox, 75, of St. Elmo, formerly of Brownstown, passed away at 7:39 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown, with Jim Dann and Darrel Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Griffith Cemetery in rural Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday and one hour before services on Saturday, both at the church. Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cox was born on Monday, Feb. 27, 1939, in rural St. Elmo, the daughter of William Wilson and Gertie Mae Hissong Scholes. She married William M. Cox on April 13, 1957; he preceded her in death on June 26, 1999.
Rosalie was a member of Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown. She had been an administrator at Heritage House Nursing Center and had been employed in the office of Dr. Donald Rames, both in Vandalia.
She is survived by her daughter, Vanisha and her husband Doug Taylor of Champaign; sisters, Berniece Pasley and Velma Seaton, both of St. Elmo, and Susie Johnson of Altamont; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Rick Cox; brothers, Vernon Scholes and Herb Scholes; and a sister, Eileen Gatewood.
