Royal E. "Web" Weber, 91, of rural Nokomis, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, in his home.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home in Pana, with John Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery in Pana, with military rites accorded by Roy Ireland Post No. 317 of Oconee. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Weber was born on April 8, 1924, in Pana, the son of Carl William and Maude Me (Ranacker) Weber. He married Nora Fern Grubaugh on Feb. 14, 1947, in Vandalia; she passed away on May 6, 2010.
A graduate of Pana Township High School with the Class of 1943, Royal served in the U.S. Army from 1945-47 and was in the motor pool at Pearl Harbor. He was privileged to go on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
He lived most of his life in Pana and rural Nokomis, except for a few years in Argenta. He was a member of Roy Ireland Post No. 317 for more than 70 years, Oconee Masonic Lodge for more than 60 years and Vandalia Moose Lodge for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, Illinois Beef Producers, Birthday Club, Blacksmith Association, Mid-State Collectors Club and Old-Tyme Collectors Club. He owned his own welding shop.
He is survived by his daughters, Carla and her husband Gerry Calhoun of Brownstown, and Jean Ann "Petey" and her husband Dave Durbin of Oconee; grandchildren, Angie and her husband Jeff Bell of Taylorville, James R. Patton Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Pennsylvania, Michael El Patton and Mary Wrachford of Ohlman, Shannon and her husband Mark Ponzel of Vandalia, Jeff Eckard and his wife Jessica of Bluff City, Georganne and her husband John DuFaux of Vandalia, and Desi and her husband Kendal Henschen of Pana; and great-grandchildren, Shane Ponzel, Michelle Ponzel, Shawn Ponzel, Jarrod Eckard, Ruth Ann Patton, Nora Patton, Elsie Patton, Alauna Grace Patton, BreAnn Patton, Bailey Patton, McKayla Patton and Rainey "Raindrop" DuFaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Marsha Patton, in November 1984; and brothers and sisters, Esther Harker, John Weber, Dorothy Sparks, Charles Robert Weber and Richard Weber (in infancy).
