Ruby Genevieve Henry, 92, of Vandalia, passed away at 7:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Services will held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Olen Evans officiating. Interment will be in Farmers Cemetery in Shobonier. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: Farmers Cemetery. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Ruby was born on July 17, 1926, in Shobonier, the daughter of Morgan and Anna (Courson) Henry.
She was employed at GC Murphy Co. for 40 years and also at Walmart for nearly 27 years. She was a member of Northside Christian Church in Vandalia. Ruby was an avid quilter and enjoyed meeting the many children who visited Walmart.
She is survived by her nieces, Sandy and her husband Gary Brumfield of Vandalia, and Carolyn and husband Ken Miller of Camdenton, Mo.; nephew, Max Ehrat and wife Kathy of Vernon; several great-nieces and –nephews; and many other relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Belva Lee Daniels and Daisy Blalock; and a nephew, Harold "Sparky" Blalock.
