Ruby Geraldine "Jerry" Pyle, 82, of Shobonier, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Vernon/Tillman Cemetery in Vernon, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Pyle was born on Nov. 1, 1932, at home in Kaskaskia Township, Fayette County, the daughter of Thomas C. and Louise E. House Curran. She married James N. Pyle on Nov. 3, 1951.
She was an accomplished seamstress for 25 years before going to work for Supervisor of Assessments Lyle Ballance. She retired in 1995 to have a kidney transplant. She was also an elected township assessor. She was a member of the Vernon United Methodist Church until it closed, then she went to Luster Chapel United Methodist Church to play the piano. She lived most of her life in Stringtown, rural Shobonier.
She is survived by her husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
