Shirley A. Sanders, 75, of Bingham, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015, in Springfield.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church in rural Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson, Dr. Ben Foxworth and the Rev. Larry O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery in rural Ramsey. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Sanders was born on July 15, 1939, in Fayette County, the daughter of Charles L. and Neva L. Rhodes Hoffman. She married Donald Sanders on Aug. 14, 1955, in Ramsey; he passed away on Feb. 2, 2006.
She was a secretary/receptionist for the Fayette County Health Department, served as chairwoman of the Fayette County Farm Bureau Women's Committee and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Shirley loved her family and grandchildren, and showed her love for children by teaching Sunday school for more than 25 years.
She is survived by her mother; sons, Keith Sanders and his wife Dee of Vandalia, and Kent Sanders and his wife Karen of Ramsey; daughter, Kendra and her husband Andy Craig of Vandalia; grandchildren, Christopher Sanders and his wife Alyssa, Jessica and her husband Reid Torbeck, Kelby Sanders, and Sarah and Gracie Craig; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Preston, Abigail and Isabela.
She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
